Granville Island Public Market – Full Temporary Roof Installation

The Granville Island Public Market project featured the installation of a full temporary roof to protect ongoing works beneath one of Vancouver’s most iconic landmarks. Spanning 250 feet by 100 feet, the freestanding structure utilized North Scaffold Products’ (NSP) 750 mm Diamond Beam Roof System, delivering exceptional strength and stability across the entire covered area.

A standout feature was the 100-foot clear span of the Diamond Beam Roof, supported by 160 feet of the all-new NSP 1500 D-Beam. The 1500 D-Beam also clear spanned the ring system scaffold supports, necessary due to existing structures preventing supports from being placed parallel to the enclosure’s length. This innovative approach avoided interference with the market’s framework while ensuring optimal strength.

Completed with NSP Keder Tarps for a fully water-tight finish, the system provided a safe, dry environment for trades to work efficiently in all conditions, ensuring uninterrupted progress and preserving the market’s operations.
